#LondonGoodTimes

How does a Super Mom manage to control the speed in her life during the Lockdown phase? Agreed, the regular house work piles onto you with no or less support from your house-maid. Here we have Super Mom Geeta Hansaria who wears multiple hats besides being a full-time mom to a ten-year old daughter.A homeopathic doctor, a content writer, a recipe developer and a passionate blogger on Instagram (with a verified account called @geetasfoodielife), Geeta takes you through what she gained and imbibed through this lockdown journey.

How would you describe the lockdown period?
The lockdown period has been an eye opener and a mind opener for most of us. Unimaginable situations and scenarios have transpired in our lives. We have learned a lot of things - how to survive on less, tolerance and patience has improved and a lot of self-introspection has been done. While some people have discovered their hidden talents and have become more active, others have stagnated and become depressed.

What new hobbies have you started or experimented during this phase?
I have started writing more and making recipe videos. Earlier I was scared and didn’t think I could do it. But now I had more time to put into it. Somehow I have become more active on the creative front.

Which films / web series / shows / content you have loved watching during this phase and why?
I have started watching more of spiritual clips and listened to meditation audios.  I also watched a lot of inspirational talk shows as it gives me a lot of comfort and peace of mind. In such moments of despair and where we have no control, meditation keeps you sane and sorted.

What have you missed eating or drinking most?
Mumbai street food for sure. I miss the vada pav, sandwich, Pani Puri, bhel, Chaat, pav bhaji etc. Despite making most of them at home, I miss the flavours of Mumbai street food.

Have you tried cooking most of your favourites at home already? Any new recipes you tried out.
Yes, I have cooked all of the above street food. I also tried a unique recipe of mango pakoda (video is on my IGTV @geetasfoodielife on Instagram).

What’s the one skill you did not know you had and realised during this phase?
I never knew I could do video editing.  I always thought I was a lost cause and technologically challenged but the lockdown phase helped me overcome this trait which was much needed for me.

What has been the most annoying thing you have observed during this period?
The most annoying thing is people don’t follow rules. I still see many people gather together outside or on terraces. Lockdown rules are being ignored even by educated people.

Has the lockdown changed you in some way – emotionally or mentally? What are the changes you have seen in yourself?
The lockdown has made me more patient and aware. I realize now less is more. We don’t need so many clothes or so many shoes or all this materialistic stuff. My faith in the Almighty has increased.
I have become more passionate towards my work as it gives me joy and during this lockdown period is my saving grace.

What are the 3 things you would surely try out once the lockdown is over?
I would set some time-table for more exercise time.
A Healthier diet would be my next initiative.
Spending more time with family and organizing time schedules.

How would you handle your life post 31st May 2020? Any care tips you plan to follow.
I will be thankful that the period is over but still will be cautious and not venture out unless absolutely necessary. Being a parent, will take care of immunity. The focus will also shift to consuming healthy drinks and doing yoga.

What have been the learnings from the lockdown? How has this phase changed you as a person?
Lockdown has shown us the power of nature. I have learned so much that every phase has its good and bad points. While we couldn’t move out much, our passion for our work, our love for our loved ones, our kindness towards humanity wasn’t under lockdown.

So we can evolve more as a person during these times, and continuing the same trend event post all is well. Helping each other and making sure we all are safe home – this feeling with stay with us for a lifetime now.
